To strengthen the M&E systems for health service delivery, Baylor Foundation Uganda provided technical assistance through training, mentorship, supervision, and continuous professional development sessions for health workers and Baylor staff to ensure accurate data collection, reporting, and use for decision-making.
In addition to this, we recruited 135 health information assistants and 196 data assistants at supported health facilities to address the staffing gaps in records and data management.
Data Capture, Reporting, and Use: Working with the M&E Technical Support (METS) Program and MOH, we availed HMIS tools for data capture and reporting and conducted external and internal quarterly data quality assessments, spot checks, and monthly HMIS data validation. DQA findings were used to implement course corrections to ensure data meets expected data quality standards in terms of completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
Digitalizing health information: Baylor Foundation Uganda is one of the leading partners in the country implementing digital systems for Health sector. We worked with MOH and METS to expand the use of health information solutions including tiered Uganda Electronic Medical Record (EMR), TB electronic case-based surveillance system, OVC tracker, KP tracker and laboratory information systems. We provided computers and related Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accessories, end-user training, internet services and routine equipment maintenance. Health facilities which had power interruptions received solar-backup systems to ensure safety and continuity of services.
