The laboratory leadership program in Uganda officially conducted the induction of its newest Cohort of mentors for the 2026 fellows on February 10, 2026. This induction marks a pivotal step in a two – year journey focused on career growth and strategic leadership. The mentors and mentees committed to working together through the two-year journey in order to achieve the best out the mentorship program. Throughout the program, this mentorship will provide essential guidance to fellows, helping them navigate the complexities of laboratory leadership while ensuring the timely and successful completion of their fellowship requirements.
The Laboratory leadership Program is a two-year post-master’s degree in-service training initiative. It is implemented by UNIPH at the Ministry of Health with support from US CDC, Baylor Foundation Uganda, Makerere School of Public Health and Association of Public Health Laboratories. The program’s goal is to develop skilled and knowledgeable laboratory leaders able to build and sustain the national laboratory system to effectively and efficiently respond to human, animal and environmental health challenges in Uganda.
