HIV/TB remains a significant global challenge, particularly affecting adolescent girls, young women, and other vulnerable groups. To achieve the goal of ending HIV by 2030, it is crucial to focus our efforts on making HIV/TB services available and accessible to these groups. This involves sensitizing communities, providing prevention methods, testing, treatment, and support services designed for their particular needs. By tackling the distinct challenges these populations encounter, we can advance substantially towards realizing an AIDS-free generation.
Through the GC7 grant, Baylor Foundation is implementing the following activities to address the challenges:
Differentiated HIV Testing Services: These services are tailored to meet the specific needs of key populations. these services aim to reach them wherever they are, even in remote and underserved areas where they live.
Prevention Package for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Their Male Sexual Partners in High HIV Incidence Settings: This package includes education on safe sex practices, provision of condoms, and information on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for those at high-risk of HIV transmission.
Prevention Package for Other Vulnerable Populations (OVP): This package is for the OVPs, and it includes targeted outreaches, access to HIV testing and treatment, and support for harm reduction strategies to lower HIV transmission risk in these communities.
Resilience and System Strengthening for Health and Community Systems: This involves building the capacity of health and community systems to effectively meet the needs of key populations and to improve the quality of healthcare services provided to them.
TB/DR-TB Prevention: This strategy aims to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and drug-resistant tuberculosis among key populations.
