In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and key development partners, we are strengthening reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) services to improve the well-being of mothers, infants, and families in hard-to-reach communities.
Our interventions focus on:
- Expanding access to quality RMNCAH services through evidence-based infrastructural improvements.
- Procuring essential equipment and medical supplies to ensure safe and timely care.
- Re-skilling and motivating health workers to deliver lifesaving interventions.
- Strengthening referral systems for timely management of maternal and newborn complications.
Our Impact
These efforts have significantly enhanced the quality of care in Newborn Care Units (NCUs) from July 2023 to June 2024, resulting in:
- Successful management of very small and vulnerable babies.
- A 40% reduction in birth asphyxia case fatality rates (CFR) in Bunyoro and 36% in Fort Portal.
- Improved newborn survival, with rates rising from 87% to 90% in just one year.
- A remarkable decline in neonatal mortality rates (NMR) by 40% in Bunyoro and 36% in Fort Portal.
- A reduction in maternal mortality rates (MMR) by 20.9% and 16.2%, in the respective regions.
- Over 8,230 newborn lives saved through these targeted interventions.
222 pregnant and postpartum mothers transferred
7,224 babies received immunization services
4,503 women received ANC services
