COMPREHENSIVE MULTISECTORAL HIV PREVENTION AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN
With support from UNICEF, Baylor Foundation Uganda launched the “Comprehensive and Multisectoral HIV Prevention and Reproductive Health Programs for Adolescent Girls and Young Women” project in April 2025, targeting the high-burden districts of Kamwenge, Kiryandongo, and Tororo. The project focused on expanding access to peer-led, differentiated, and comprehensive health services for pregnant, parenting, and most-at-risk adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). Its overarching goal was to reduce new HIV infections and improve reproductive health outcomes among AGYW.
The objectives of the project were:
- To strengthen coordination of the multisectoral AGYW HIV prevention response at the national and sub-national level;
- To increase access to peer-led differentiated and comprehensive health services for pregnant and parenting AGYW in three UNICEF-supported high-burden districts, including HPV implementation in Tororo district; and
- To increase access to comprehensive and responsive packages of HIV prevention services and support for most at-risk AGYW in the three districts.
